Why the fuck are you doing this?

Firstly, an apology.

This blog should have come much sooner. It might have made more sense to have written this 23 blogs ago as an entrance to this series!

I am re-learning how to write.

Not kidding, I have a real difficulty writing long form. I do notes! TONES of them. I note take all the time. Short snappy little lines about what to do and what I want/need are great for getting my life organised but not so much for communicating ideas to other people. Through this blog I can actually talk to people about what I am doing...or at least that’s what I tell myself. Obviously no one is actually reading this so it is kinda me gently talking into the void. Still nice though.

Giving something back

I enjoy teaching people. Helping other create stuff gives me a buzz. Simple idea that leads into my next point....

Creating a point of contact for the photographic community

I hope for this to become a place for us to ask questions and (hopefully) for us to get answers. Talking to people is nice...its also really fecking helpful and healthy! In the modern world however it seems increasing difficult to do so. HERE is a place for us to talk to each other. So talk. Now. Don’t wait. Having the idea to do is meaningless, action is key.

I write to force creativity in another form

Inspiration is for amateurs... Professionals get up in the morning and rely on our knowledge, our craft and, our experience to get the jobs we do done. We can’t wait for inspiration. That said the more we get the better and by practising other creative disciplines can inspire ideas for my photography.

Over specialising is dangerous for any creative. That is not to say you should become a specialist but to be only capable of doing one thing and using only one way of thinking is a weakness. Infinite diversity in infinite combinations is philosophy of strength. Look at other crafts and techniques to advance the ones you use.

I try to put in writing what the fuck I am actually doing

Its like journaling with all the therapeutic value that comes with that.

I can also sit down and analyse what it is I have achieved (or not) over a period of time. WARNING, you don’t drive a car by looking in the review mirror. Using anything that is looking into the past is only partially helpful. Look to the future but be aware of the past.

Do you blog, do you share your creativity and if so how? What other disciplines do you do? Let us (ok really still just me) know.

Be polite

Be efficient

Have a plan to photograph everyone you meet.
